Our Mission
Passionate Hearts is a Christ-centered, curriculum-based, yearlong support group for women wounded by childhood sexual abuse. Using the curriculum called Growing a Passionate Heart, we seek to help women who desire healing from their past by:
Providing victims with clear definitions and names for their experiences while teaching them to care for themselves and others as they navigate through the healing process
Helping victims firmly place the responsibility for their abuse where it belongs by helping them understand the roles of family dynamics and the perpetrators in their abuse.
- Providing a safe place for victims to tell their stories, where they won’t be silenced, shamed, or given pat answers (all of which intensify shame) and over time help them see how their story, painful and ugly as it seems in the beginning, is truly a part of God’s beautiful redemptive story.
- Helping victims to assess the damage that was done to them physically, spiritually, emotionally, and relationally and provide them with suggestions for healing and overcoming the damage and so they move from the victim mode to the survivor mode
- Helping survivors uncover core beliefs about God, others, and themselves that were formed during the time that they were abused and gain an understanding of how these core beliefs have driven their choices, values, relationships, and actions, while helping them replace faulty belief systems with Biblical truth about God, themselves, others, and life
- Giving survivors the freedom to honestly wrestle with God and His sovereignty over abuse until they can fully place themselves in the hand of their Healer and forgive their perpetrators from their hearts
- Helping survivors understand what it means to fully love God, correctly love themselves, love their enemies including abusers, and love others with a godly love that is both tender and bold so that they move from the survivor mode to being an overcomer who has a passionate heart.
